Once in Cagliari, you may treat yourself to a city tour: reach the walls of Castello and look out to admire an unmissable sunset: on one side the sea, on the other the salt flats, the Pond of Molentargius and the pink of its flamingos.For dinner fresh fish in the many taverns and restaurants. After the meal you may spend the rest of the night in one of the many clubs in the city, or rather with a walk along the Lungomare del Poetto.

POETTO

it is the beach of Cagliari. Eight kilometers of white sand and crystalline sea, stretching all the way to the municipality of Quartu, dominated by the promontory of the Sella del Diavolo. The name of the beach is thought to derive from an Aragonese tower called "del Poeta" (of the Poet).

MARINA DI CAPITANA

The territory of Capitana is characterized by small yet beautiful beaches, about ten meters long on average. Besides, here rises a tourist harbor protected by two piers, one bigger and L-shaped, the other smaller and rectilinear. The fraction is served by all main services.

 MARE PINTAU

Must-see landing in the beautiful cove, characterized by a sandy bottom, crystal clear water and a contrast of colors and shades that is so vibrant it seems painted ("pintau" in Sardinian, indeed). With the tender you can reach the edge of the cobbled beach for a refill at the local bar.

 TORRE DELLE STELLE

village standing on a promontory along the coastal road, leading from Cagliari to Villasimius, in the south-east of Sardinia. It is the coastal area of the Municipalities of Maracalagonis and Sinnai, and a favorite destination for Cagliari residents who own most of the villas here. It has two beautiful beaches of fine white sand, Genn'e Mari and Cann'e Sisa, sea waters are of medium depth and of ​​a blue-green color, with a thousand shades. Beautiful night view, with the promontory dotted with lights.

 CAPO CARBONARA

The promontory of Capo Carbonara acts as a watershed between the Golfo degli Angeli of Cagliari and the Villasimius bay. On both sides of the promontory there are several tourist locations:

- on the west coast: the small port of Villasimius with the beach, the remains of an ancient fortress with the old tower, Punta Santo Stefano, acting as the westernmost extension of the promontory, and the town of Santa Caterina with its cove;

- on the east coast: the beach of Is traias, the beautiful one of Porto Giunco, the Pond of Notteri with the pink Flamingos, the Torre di Porto Giunco and the pebble beach of Cava Usai (granite quarry abandoned in the 50s). On the promontory there are also an Air Force meteorological station and a signaling beacon. In front of Capo Carbonara, about 800 meters to the south-east, rises Isola dei Cavoli. The marine area in front of Capo Carbonara, together with the islands of Cavoli and the Serpentara, are part of the Capo Carbonara protected natural marine area. 

CAVOLI ISLAND

It is a small granite island, included in the Protected Marine Area of Capo Carbonara and surmounted by an imposing lighthouse. The name's origin has two current versions: according to the oldest, its name, which in Sardinian is isula de is càvarus (meaning "island of crabs"), is simply a gross misrepresentation, an error in translation by Italian cartographers. The most modern version is that the name derives from the abundant presence on the island of numerous plants of Wild Cabbage or Cabbage of Sardinia (Brassica Insularis), which grow in an endemic form. Since the lighthouse's operation is now automated, the island is uninhabited and houses the research center of the Faculty of Biology of Cagliari, which uses it for botanical and zoological research. In 1979, in the southern part, a 3.2 meter-high granite statue dedicated to the Virgin of the Sea, patroness of the shipwrecked and protector of all sailors, by the sculptor Pinuccio Sciola, was laid on the sea floor, at a depth of about ten meters. Since then, every year, on the third Sunday of July, there is an important festival, with the spectacular procession of boats in the sea coming from the nearby coast of Villasimius, culminating with a blessing and an underwater prayer, and the throwing of crowns flowers into the waters. Following this there are festivities, traditional songs and costume dances by folk and musical groups, as well as fireworks shows in the night.

 VILLASIMIUS

The town and its surrounding area are an unmissable tourist destination. The wealth of beaches, brimming with vegetation; the nightlife and good food in the town's center; the possibility of spending a break with excursions in the mountainous hinterland woods and numerous land and sea sports, make Villasimius a very attractive stop. On arrival, attention must be paid to the presence of shoals and outcrops, near the coasts. Mooring at the local port is comfortable, well protected from all winds and discreet, as the location is detached by a couple of kilometers from the town itself, which is anyway easily accessible.

 COSTA REY

Muravera's coastal hamlet, Costa Rei, also known as Rey Coast, is a major and recently formed tourist settlement, entirely overlooking an enchanting and unspoiled coastline, offering its guests caribbean settings made of crystalline sea and white sand. Among the seven kilometers of coastline full of kiosks, must-see intimate coves and sublime beaches, stands the beach called Peppino, with the characteristic rock lying on pools of warm and clear water, rather resembling enchanting natural pools. On the horizon stands the island of Serpentara, easily accessible by guided excursion, which for its naturalistic variety is an integral part of the Marine Park of Capo Carbonara.
